From July 26th to August 3rd, Nagoya University hosted the ICRC conference, a global gathering of astroparticle physicists. Commission C4 (Astroparticle Physics) of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) has biennially organized this event since 1947. The conference covers a wide range of topics, including Cosmic Ray Physics, Gamma-Ray Astronomy, Neutrino Astronomy & Neutrino Physics, Dark Matter Physics, Solar and Heliospheric Physics, Multi-messenger Astronomy, and, in the 2023 edition, a new topic: Gravitational Wave Astronomy.
ICRC2023 serves as an exceptional platform for scientists worldwide to enhance their knowledge base and explore innovative ideas. Our colleague Dr. Marek Walczak, a member of AstroCeNT group 1, was honored to participate in this significant event this year. He delivered an oral presentation titled “Searching for dark matter with liquid-argon detectors,” introducing the DarkSide-20k and DEAP-3600 experiments, and attended other presentations in the field of dark matter and astroparticle physics.
It’s noteworthy that Dr. Marek Walczak’s attendance at the conference was made possible through funding from the DarkWave project one of the main goals of which is to promote the exchange of knowledge in the international scientific environment and enhance the experience of young scientists.
