Tatsuki Washimi, a physicist affiliated with the Gravitational Wave Science Project (GWPS) at the Kamioka branch of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), recently visited Astrocent. A leading expert in gravitational wave research, Dr. Washimi discussed challenges related to the KAGRA experiment and shared insights on advancing detector technologies.
During his visit, he met with Mariusz Suchenek, a researcher at Astrocent, to explore strategies for mitigating infrasound noise that impacts the sensitivity of gravitational wave detectors. The discussion also highlighted their shared commitment to the Einstein Telescope, a next-generation gravitational wave observatory to be built in Europe—one of Astrocent’s key focus areas.
