National Center for Nuclear Research<\/a> granted a habilitation degree to dr Marcin Ku\u017aniak (Leader of the Astrocent Group 1).<\/p>In Poland (also some other European countries) habilitation is is the highest scientific degree. It is awarded for significant research contributions and scientific independence (similar to the promotion to Associate Professor in North America). The basis for the decision was the assessment of the candidate’s track record, in particular scientific papers on direct dark matter search and development of related experimental and data analysis techniques.<\/p>
