From January 12 to 25, Clea Sunny, a PhD student at Astrocent, participated in hands-on training at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) in Italy. She joined the expert team working on the DarkSide-20k Mockup Experiment, a crucial step in validating the DS-20k TPC detector.
During the two-week training at the Nuova Officina Assergi (NOA) cleanroom, Clea learned essential experimental skills—from assembling and aligning components to soldering and maintaining cleanroom procedures—under the guidance of Ako Jamil and the team.
This experience provided valuable insights into detector construction, preparing Clea for future contributions to experimental astrophysics.
Clea’s stay was funded from the SONATA Bis grant (National Science Centre).
